And use 2 to counter the complication.

Sorak began tapping controls on the console, tentatively at first, but building in speed and confidence as he worked. "An excellent idea, sir. It would be a simple matter to cross-connect the quantum resonance imagers with the mass share spectrometer to reduce sensitivity to an absolute minimum, rewrite the firmware to reverse the sensitivity scale on the readouts..." He pauses, his eyes moving rapidly as if reading something only he could see. He nods and then there's a few more hurried commands "But make sure to disengage the internal graviton sink to prevent a catastrophic buildup of particles, and avoid the resultant shutdown and reboot." He ends his quiet recitation and holds his hand over the "Execute" key and looks to Treyva with a raised eyebrow, "On your mark, sir..."
"Plus who is going to be consoling Sorak there?"

"The commander raises a valid concern," Sorak replied with his usual aplomb, "As you can see, I am beside myself with worry."

OOC:
Current
Momentum 4
Threat 11

Spaceworthy Cover Advantage (Katarina, Cole, & Tobin for their backstory on why the boys are helping her)
Familiar Systems Advantage (operating or manipulating Schrep's Sensor Suite)

The Surveillance Team
Katya and her father sit down on the couch as Cole and Tobin watch their surroundings. The phaser control officer begins with, “Why, Papa? Why are you doing all this?”

A troubled expression clouds Dietrich’s face, and he’s quiet for a few moments. “To save you. And your brothers and sisters,” he explains. “Do you remember when that so-called “whale probe” nearly destroyed Earth’s oceans a couple years ago? Just before that, the Klingon ambassador to the Federation told the Council that there’d never be peace between the Federation and the Empire.

“I realized, then, that I had to do something. A preemptive strike to force the war that was already coming,” he says.

“Force a war? Papa, do you realize how many lives that would’ve cost?”

Schrepfermann nods. “It would’ve been difficult, at first, but we’ve already outpaced them in terms of technology. Never mind the cruisers; our frigates and other warships, and the production capabilities to quickly increase our numbers, would’ve soon overwhelmed the Klingons. We have the chance to enforce peace on our terms.”

“And what about Heinrich, or Ernst, or me? Was risking us part of the plan?”

“You joined Starfleet; how could I tell you not to?” he answered with an apologetic shrug. “I knew there would be a chance, but I couldn’t wait ‘til the Klingons started a war when they were ready.”

“Papa, the Klingons know,” she countered. “There will be no war, but there is still a cost to our family.

“Heinrich says he’s been told he’ll never be the chief science officer on the Toronto, and he’ll be lucky if he even makes lieutenant,” she continued, tears beginning to form in the corners of her eyes. “Ernst has been harassed so much that they’ve moved him to an offsite barracks, just to give him peace. He has one friend -- one -- who has stuck with him. He’s thinking about dropping out, you know; your doing.”

She takes a breath and adds, “And If it weren’t for Captain Treyva, I wouldn’t have gotten a ship posting; I’d be stuck in an out of the way transporter room, somewhere. An Ensign Dunsel.”

As her tirade continues, Tobin notices the Niro and the other two men actively attempting to ignore the conversation; however, Niro occasionally meets his gaze with derision. Behind them, another black-suited employee enters the room, discovers the scene before her, and carefully backs out the way she came.

Cole, taking note of the activity around him, notices Schrep drop his hand to his waist, as if something like a communicator buzzed. Tobin notices Niro do the same as one of the other men take a shot. Schrep, seems to silence his device and continue to pay complete attention to his daughter, while Niro steps to the far corner of the common area to take the call.

The Sabotage Team
The guards hidden and the sensors modified to ignore their presence as they cross the compound, Garav and Ally return to the shack. “Are we ready to go?” the Andorian asks.

Treyva nodded. "Absolutely."

Remind me again: Where's the mystery building in relation to the yacht? I might want to spare a glance or two in its direction with a tricorder.

What has Miral been saying to Treyva regarding Ernst?

OOC: The mystery structure is due north of your current position at the gate and mostly due east of the north end of the landing tarmac.

And Miral has only been saying what Treyva reported earlier, that Ernst is having a "tough time of it." She didn't elaborate further in her letters.

Okay, with the mods we made to the system in place, a tricorder shouldn't get anybody's hackles up. As we walk towards the tarmac, and since Curiosity Is Its Own Reward, Treyva is going to scan the mystery building with his tricorder. What do I need to roll?

OOC: If you're looking to determine its function, use Reason + Engineering. If you're looking for a general sense of the structure, use Insight + Science.

Pointing to the yacht, Treyva said, "Get to work; I'm going to try and answer a couple questions." Taking his tricorder out of his jacket pocket, he scanned the mysterious structure they'd noted during their approach to the spaceport.

Well, this could suck.

Treyva Reason (10) + Engineering  (1), TN 11. I don't think I have any relevant Focuses or Talents to use.

Rolled 2d20 : 6, 14, total 20

Let's try not to set off any alarms.

OOC: 1 Success vs. Difficulty 1. Success!

Treyva scans the structure with his tricorder. It's an access point, he quickly realizes, with a small lift leading below ground. Some kind of corridor stretches east and west from the base of the lift, but he can't get any more data from his current position.

Does the tricorder offer an Advantage in this situation? If so, it reduces to D0 and I could spend the resultant Momentum on more info.

OOC: We might want to think about distracting Niro before he takes that call.
OOC: My thoughts exactly.

Tobin quickly glances in Cole's direction before following Niro. He sidles up next to the Deltan as he prepares to take the call.

"So, I've been wondering, what is it that you get out of all this?" Tobin says in a friendly tone, doing his best to appear nonchalant. "I mean, I know Schrepfermann believes he's trying to save the Federation or something, but you seem like an ambitious man with lots of potential. Why are you toadying around for a disgraced traitor? You could be accomplishing great things, like being a food-taster for some two-bit Orion gangster."

OOC: Hopefully that's distracting, but not too distracting.  ;D

OOC: I'm going to say no Advantage on the tricorder, since it's letting you do something you can't do at this point.

The Sabotage Team
The two other men at the table give Robin a cursory glance as he approaches turning their attention back to the game. As one leans over to line up a shot, Niro pauses in the middle of raising his communicator and looks at the Trill like he just grew a second head.

"What the hell are you getting on about, Trill?" he asks.

OOC: Let's see if you can goad Niro into engaging Tobin and not taking that call...

Tobin Presence + Command vs. Difficulty 2. Tobin has the tougher row to hoe, especially considering Deltans are empaths...
Niro Control + Command (10+3) vs. Difficulty 1.

OOC: Hoo boy. I'm going to spend a point of Momentum to get a bonus d20.

Presence (10) + Command (2) vs Difficulty 2
