I had a bit of a spark of creativity and started jotting down some bare-bones mechanics for a modern/NWOD/steampunkish system. Basically, all characters have access to the spirit world (be it magic, nature, ley-line, divinity, etc) and face challenges like in other genres using their various powers, I call these Tricks. Pending further development, I have a few Tricks and mechanics posted below. Please let me know what you think and post any advice and/ideas you wish to contribute.

Effect:
Causes obscures vision of target

Name: camoflauge
Cost: 1 heatlth per target
Area: target
Duration: 1 round per additional power expended
Effect:
Target blends into surroundings

Name: leave no trace
Cost: 3 health and 1 Focus per target
Area: target
Duration:
Effect:
No DNA or other trace evidence is detectable

Name: swarm
Cost: 2 power 3 focus
Area: target
Duration: 1 round per health
Effect:
A swarm of pests attacks and blinds one target

Name: Air walk
Cost: 4 focus
Area: self
Duration: 1 round per power
Effect:
Traget is able to walk in the air. Increase in speed or weight will end this effect

Name: Pet
Cost: 1 health 1 power 1 focus
Area: target
Duration: indefinite
Effect:
Summons one small animal for companionship

Name: Forecast
Cost: 2 focus 2 power
Area: self
Duration: 1 round per health
Effect:
Minor changes in the environment. increases/decreases temperature, percipetation, etc

Cost: 3 focus 2 power
Area: target
Duration: 1 round per health
Effect:
Able to become more convincing

Name: Organic shift
Cost: 5 health 2 focus
Area: self
Duration: one action
Effect:
Able to shape-shift into a common urban animal

Name: Distract
Cost: 1 Focus
Area: target
Duration: 1 round per power
Effect:
Causes target to loose train of thought, turn attention away from self, etc
Whoever appeals to the law against his fellow man is a fool or a coward. Whoever cannot take care of himself without that law is both.
