Aftermath Stats
« on: June 05, 2009, 09:53:15 PM »
Stats are 1-40 with average at 10, but in play, it seems more like the top end is 20. . .you just never seem to have the points to pull out a 40, without making yourself feeble in every other category. . .I guess you could jack your stats with all your development points, purchase no skills?

I don't think any of the PCs has a stat over 20, do they?

It seems a big break from the usual in other systems, where PCs often have one or a handful of stats up near the limits.

Do stats change over the life of the character? If so, how?
Eye of newt and toe of frog, wool of bat and tongue of dog.
Adder’s fork and blind-worm’s sting, lizard’s leg and owlet’s wing.
   - Traditional physical spell components
You put your left foot in, you put your left foot out...
  - Traditional somatic spell components
Ooo Eee Ooo Aaa Aaa, Ting Tang Walla Walla Bing Bang.
   - Traditional verbal spell components
Take the lime and the coconut, and drink them both together.
  - Traditional potion formula

When you master skills that have a stat attributed to them, then you can increase the stat. Also you can train a stat like a skill, but with month cycle times.

Beginning PC's rarely have much above 20 in a stat without slighting themselves elsewhere.
"How do you hold on to an angel?"

"Hook em by the wing joint. You know where it jogs in there? Clip or a claw... a snare would do it."

I guess this fits into the sense that the PCs are "Average People"

How much of a random curve is there in here? If your initial stats were all +3s, and then you rolled max stat points and split them equally, what would your average stat be?
