Hi; I suppose I should post an introductory post to get all the greeting posts concentrated together.

I don't know about pestering people, I prefer the subtle art of manipulation . . . or hitting them with a big stick. Anyway, despite its problems Ars Magica is disturbingly fun, everyone should love Ars Magica.

What problem?

It's a great system.  There was a game run by Sorloc a while back that was a lot of fun.
If anything gets going, I would love to get in on it.

I would be interested in playing.
Maybe we could actually play true Troupe style and have one primary GM and then have some of the player's occasionally run something.

Another favorite of mine and one that I'd be willing to spend time on as a player if someone can run a campaign. If the GM seat rotates I'd be willing to take my turn.

If no one else starts one up before then, maybe I can start one around the end of May, I'm guessing that my life will return to normal (or as close as its going to get) by then.

Over the last 2 years I've been dabbling with an AM campaign situated in the Iberian Tribunal.  Across the peninsula the conflict between the crusading kingdoms of the Reconquista and the Almohad Empire hampers the Tribunal's efforts to rein in renegade magi, heal bad blood between some of the Orders, and avoid being drawn into the Church's search for diabolists.

If such a setting looks interesting enough that you want to play, let me know.  I could probably have everything ready to go by early June.  I know that's a little ways away, but I won't have significant to dedicate to the game until the summer.

The only other question I would have is ... 4E or 5E?

Let me know what you think.

I love Ars Magica, so I'm up for it.
Having read through a lot of the 5E books, I would rather go for the 4E books.
(like a lot of games, 5E decided to add a lot of complexity).

Just wondering, why do you like 5th ed over 4th?

For me 5th is a little cleaner than 4th in several areas.
Spell guidelines are clearer (still could be improved)
Twilight/Warping rules are better (IMO)
Spell Mastery Rules are better (IMO)
Group Combat rules actually make sense mechanically for grogs shielding a Magus.

Oh, me too!  I made a pre-teen character for a game that never took off.  I only know 5th edition.

I guess it's personal taste.  I felt that 5th ed added needless complications, and once they got to the houses, way too many rules.
