Something confused me when we started combat, so I looked it up. I have 5th ed, so I don't know if it is a re-write from previous books.

Attack rolls= 11 + Attackers OCV - Targets DCV or less

Celedor you had it as a score plus. Is that how the 4th ed has it? If so, then I will use that formula. As I read it in the rules a 3 always hits (with perhaps some extra results)  and a 18 always fails (with some consequences to the attacker)

There is a great attack roll table in the book and if I can figure how to print from Adobe, I will post it.

(BYW where did you get that attack table? I will need it for my Warriors game.)

I did indeed invert things. . .der. . .it's been a while. Whole reason for this arena was to knock-the-dust-off-fogies or give-chance-to-try to noobs. Good catch, dunno where that evil snuk into my head. . probably since most systems are high roll.

All attacks hit anyway, I re-checked the numbers. . . .heheh. . .with these two characters, misses will be rare.

Do you mean the "Combat Modifiers" table? the one that starts at "Area attack" and ends at "Unfamiliar weapon"?

You can cut/paste out of the book, or printscreen, paste to paint, save as jpg and attach jpg file.

Cool

Actually there is a great table which lists the OCV and DCV and then you slide across to find what you need to roll to hit with an attack. It is pretty cool

So calculating BOD damage is the same as STUN? you count off against at PD right?

yep, the system is skewed to result in more knockouts than kills. (Like a sword or gun is more likely to KO than kill you)

It's heroic.

If you want it more gritty, you need to turn on some or all of:
Hit locations
Wounding
Bleeding

optional rules. . .all of which make the system a bit more nasty.

Not precisely...

There is one thing  - Killing attacks (HKA (e.g., swords, claws, bites) / RKA (e.g., guns, arrows)) are ONLY reduced by RESISTANT defenses - which your PD and ED stats are NOT.  Your PD stat does not protect you against killing attacks, only resistant defenses, such as force field or armor affect killing attack damage.

*For more specifics, I'll have to check the book...

"Terrible what passes for a ninja these days" -- Pops Racer (John Goodman), Speed Racer (2008)
"How hard can it be?" -- Indiana Jones (Harrison Ford), Temple of Doom (1984)

True, but as is, a normal person with:

2 PD non resistant
10 Body
15 Stun

You slash them with a 2d6 killing sword, you roll average.

7 Body x3 = 21 stun.

ignores their PD as it's not resistant. . .and knocks them out by taking them to -6 stun. . .but only takes them from 10 to 3 body. . .

If you turn bleeding, wounding and such on, likely they'd bleed to death without care. With hit locations a head shot would make that a kill.

Admitedly a 10-12 high end result would put them into 0 or less body and "Dying" at -1 BOD per turn, but that's not too likely. . .and most soldiers will be at least slightly over average physically, so likely to have 10-15 body.
