Diplomacy: Tick-Tock - The deadline thread.
« on: October 24, 2008, 05:34:36 AM »
Game is now in play, 5 days of diplomacy in the first turn, with Sat-Sun counting as 1 day.

You have until Thursday October 30, at 4am board time to PM me your orders.
("Board Time" is the date and time in the upper left of the page)

Remember, once you PM me your orders, they are final, no changes.

I will be kind and helpful over the first few turns in case you send in invalid orders, once everyone has the hang of it, you're on your own.

Please, when doing PM diplomacy with each other, do 3 things:

1) CC me on the PM.

2) Address and sign the PMs with faction names, and avoid using player names, use faction names instead:

Croaker (england) sends a note to Arakish (germany) and Rafmeister (Italy) it should start and end like this:

Quote
Germany & Italy

Let us crush the French!!

England

3) Unless your note is making specific reference to another PM you're forwarding, use the "Reply" button on the PMs rather than the "Quote" button. I will be copying all correspondance to a hidden thread to be revealed after the game, and this will keep it clean.

Remember that we're experimenting here, so I have no idea if 5 days is too much or too little time for this turn.

I'm not nudging you to hand in your orders.

PM me your unit movement orders when you feel comfortable with them. . .for the first few turns we'll discuss if we need to extend or contract the rounds as we learn more about how much time is the right amount. . .

So, don't feel you need to rush to get your orders done, but don't just sit on them until the time limit. . .when you're happy, send them in.

An hour shy of the halfway point of the 1901 Spring round. Some folks have submitted orders already, some have not. Things seem to be going well, and I hope it continues that way.

We're still feeling out this process, don't know how long it will take. If you're still thinking/scheming, keep at it. . .if you're holding your moves merely to hold out until the deadline, please send them in. (We're trying to gauge how long is long enough, not our ability individually or collectively to hold out until the last possible second of whatever arbitrary time frame I chose).

So, still working out your strategy, keep at it, but don't wait for the sake of waiting.
