It's probably just me, but that cover art leaves a lot to be desired.

The cover is the subject of some discussion on the BRP site...
The majority don't care for it (there's a poll, so I know this to be true)...

I do think it could have been better, but I wasn't consulted.

Oh, and I'll put some BRP info here soon...

I agree about the cover, though it has a nice 50s retro look.

I just want the contents to be good, and easy to follow which will be the hard bit as it is a collection of rules from amany sources I believe.

Clicking on the book will take you to http://basicroleplaying.com
One of the authors has been kind enough to start up a Q&A forum.
Strangely, although there are some RuneQuest people, some Call of Cthulhu people, and some Elric / Stormbringer people, there seems to be very little dissatistfaction with how it's turning out.
Seems like in the areas where two 'systems' follow divergent paths, the path not used as core has still been included as an optional rule.
It really does seem as though they are keeping the best parts of all the systems and putting them together.
Granted, there is less difference between Stormbringer and RuneQuest than there is between RMC and RM2, let alone RMFRP, but Call has diverged quite a bit, with different stats (EDU and SAN), and firearms.  Then again, I'm using the RQ3 version for my Gunslingers game, so I'd say it's not that hard to add firearms, but the system leaves them quite deadly.
