You walk down the path for about 400 meters, the tree growth is quite thick, and you can see that the bark off the tall trees has been ripped and scarred in many places all at the four feet or less level. The path leads down between a couple of steep wooded hills and then opens up into a valley. At the center of the valley is a large glade with a 300 meter diameter. There is only grass in the glade except at the center. At the center there appears to be a fairly large mass of broken equipment. There is a haze in the air, not quite a fog, but close. It's still very warm and extremely humid. In the distance ahead of you, you see a plume of whitish smoke, you estimate it is about a kilometer and a half away from where you are currently. You are standing at the entrance to the clearing but haven't moved into it yet. Phil is feeling a little hungry again but even more thirsty.
