The first stages of training were psysical training and a rough cull, the middle was both a cull, and combat training segment, while the end was mostly about learning to care for and fly your gull.
hmm, no ranks in generic reigonal lore, you do have a +13 in lore, kami island
It's been 20 years since the oceans "closed", you have developed relationships with three persons over the age of 35, who might have adult recollections of the time before:
your father, who has never been off the island.
the herbalist, who also has never been off the island, but did give you a bit of knowledge about certain herbs he uses that are not properly native to the island, but come from elsewhere, and now grow on the island. (Many of them in his garden), he occasionally commented on not having something he wished he could get, but all of the herbs he referenced as not having and wanting were from the mainland or from the far side of the ocean.
Your archery instructor, who was a soldier for the reigonal guard. He was on ships that traveled island to island dealing in police/military matters. . .his stories were part of training, and related to things like pirates, bandits, criminal activity. Not having taken any ranks in reigon lore, your absorbtion of his stories mostly relate to the tactical lessons involved, or tidbits of theoretical or applied archery in terms of "When confronting 4 charging pirates do this."
On the level of standard information from having grown up here. . .the three islands to the E were hunting grounds. . .having been a hunter of sorts, and around hunters, you have spent a fair amount of time hunting swamp rats. . .the largest mammal on Kami other than Humans, Pigs and goats. Many a time you've traded a 20 pound rat in for a week's worth of bean stock, people like the variation from pig and goat. (Most of the time you hunted birds, or feral pig and goat). . .the older hunters and the warrior lodge tales speak of hunting on those three islands for seals. . .you have seen seals a few times near the shore in the swamp, but the one time you got an arrow in one on shore, it got 10' out into the sea before the poison paralyzed it, and you lost it. From what you've gleaned, the islands are sizable, but didn't have sweet water for permenant settlement. There are also warrior lodge tales and songs relating to fighting over the hunting rights to these three.
These islands are Aladi, Nizki and Shemi (I'll update the map)
The island southest is more substantial. Agatti was the "Other side" in most of those tales and songs about the hunting islands. You know it's about the size of Kami, and mostly it's presence in your brain is as the locale from which enemies came, or the place the pretty maid the Kami hero was in love with came from, or was the first stop in an epic journey a hero made.
In a broad sense, you know all the islands share your language and culture, though opinion in the tales seems to get less "us" as you go east. The mainland is where the empire is based, and exists on the eastern edge of the map.
