SO rolling for Sandy's Intrigue: Roll was 71 / Skill is 39 (?that is under ML, right?) -10 =29 / 29+71=100

Is that done correctly?

I'm afraid not.

It is percentile roll LOW is better.

Mastery Level (= ML = unmodified skill) = 39 - 10 (modifier) = EML (effective mastery level) = 29.

If you rolled 71 you failed (as it happens not that important....).

Had the roll been a multiple of 5 and succeeded then it would have been a critical Success.
Had the roll been a multiple of 5 and failed then it would have been a critical failure...

So...in this case 5,10,15,20,25 would have resulted in a critical, and 30, 35, 40, 45 etc would have resulted in a Critical Failure.

Grafton: You are fairly confiedent that Edwin has other reasons for not wanting to go in person. You suspect that it is because he is well established here and doesn't want to be seen to associate with the academics or perhaps that he doesn't want to associate with them for another reason. Gain +1 (Intrigue)

Xerb : You remain blissfully ignorant.

GB, please chance Puluk to the goddess Peoli. The god of knowledge was tempting but I went with this one, it makes more sense.

GB: reading what you posted in the region thread, it appears that ALL characters can attempt the rituals you are posting, not just magic-user/priestly types.

Is this correct?

Sort of... ;)

ALL characters can request divine intervention, and have a chance of it being successful. They simply need to have sufficent Piety to "fuel" the request...

The rituals that are listed are simply forms of divine interventions which PRIESTS may use without recourse to attempting divine intervention. The rituals are more formalised, require less piety and generally don't come with "strings attached".

Basically, the same things as rituals could be requested (or be used by the Diety) as a result of a divine intervention

As I've just acquired the 2nd Edition version of Harnmaster Religion...and quite like what I've seen so far...I'll need to make some adjustments to the Religion Thread.

One of the Major Adjustments is that the Invocations need to be learnt before they can be used. The Priests will therefore have a more limited range of Invocations available. Therefore, I won't need to post so many here... ;)
