Title: AMNESIA Monday 20/10-1924 - The beginning
Post by: gherardo on November 16, 2008, 08:06:36 PM
John Wilkins had invited his friends to stay at his house for a week,to celebrate his birthday and spend some of their fall vacation with him.

Everyone was sitting at the table and was eating a nice homemade dinner, the talk was loud and the laughs many, when there was a knock at the door.
John stands up and go to the door, outside was the nextdoor neighbour 80 year old Jane Blake, also called the cat woman.
-Please help me John, he´s just lying there on my lawn! Who? John asked. -I don´t know him, but I think he´s dead! Will you please help me?

Henry appears upset. He stares at John's face: he seems very worried.
I hope this break isn't unnecessary... I HATE being interrupted while I have dinner! - he thinks, while slowly stands up and shows all his concern about the situation.
"John! I think we should call the police, but... I suggest we should accompany her and consider the situation... BEFORE!". Henry glances at those present with complicity,  as alluding to the chance that the old lady was affected by some kind of mental disease.

Charles tries to express sympathy for the lady, he stands up, grabs his doctor's bag and explains "I'm a medical doctor, let's have a look, could you explain me what happened?"

9.10pm Jane Blake at the front door.

"A doctor,I think he needs more than a doctor! If he´s not already dead, he surely will drown very soon." She wipes the rain from her face, and talks again.
"Jonesy was calling at the door, and when I went to let him in, I saw this strange man face down in my front yard. I called to him, but he didn´t respond.
Then I poked him with my cain, but he didn´t react at all."
Every one can see the frightend look on her face.
"After that I came straight over here. And now we´re wasting time, standing here, babbeling while a man is dead or drowning in the middle of my rhodohdendrons!"Jane says, sounding slightly acidic.

John

"All right Mrs Banes" John looked at her worried face. He could not determine if she was worried about what had happened to the man or her flowers. John went to the hanger took his trenchcoat with one hand and put his hat on with the other. John took Jane under her arm after he had put his trenchcoat on, and said: " Alright mrs Bane, Let's go!". Walking out into the rainy night.

Roseanne

"Yes, yes, we're coming directly, ma'am!" she manages to get out as she shrugs back into her sopping wet hat and coat.  She grabs an electric torch and hurries along with the others.
"Sorry, ma'am, we weren't introduced.  What was your name?  And who is this man causing the problem with your rhododendrons?"

9.15 pm Jane Blake

"Well hello young woman, didn´t notice there was a lady in the house. I´m Jane, Johns neighbour.I am not sure who the man is,I couldn´t recognise him, but then again, he is face down on my lawn."

The party leaves the house, into the rain, headed for Janes front yard.
The rain is alot worse than an hour ago, and the storm has developed.
As the party comes closer to Janes house, they see, (in the light from Roseannes torch) the silhuet of a man lying facedown, in the middel of a big flower bush.

He let go of mrs. Blake´s arm and gave it to Roseanne as he was moving towards the body.

Charles, panting because he was trying to catch up with the others he had left ahead to get his bag from the trunk of his car, tried to sound full of authority:
"Please make room, I need to examin this man."
While checking for consciousness, he took a cloth from his bag to avoid any contamination, and started his business.

He looks around apprehensively, then calls his friend "Charles, may I help you in any manner? Is he dead? Murdered?".

The body is a man, about size 13, at the look at his face he must be between 25-35 years old. He has black short hair.
He lies lifeless on his back with the eyes closed.

He's wearing brown pants, big black boots and a long white trenchcoat, all is sopping wet.

He looked at Roseanne with pleading eyes and asked her: "Roseanne, could you please take mrs. Baker to shelter from the wind and rain?"

He let go of mrs. Blake´s arm and gave it to Roseanne as he was moving towards the body.

Roseanne takes Jane's arm and says, "Ma'am, perhaps we should go inside.  That gentleman," she points at Charles, "is a doctor.  We should give him room to work.  Not to mention we should get you out of this filthy weather.  We could wait in your house.  Oh, do you have a telephone? We may need to summon the Police."
Roseanne will hand her electric torch to one of the gentlemen if they do not have one.

I know that this is not the right place for such a question, but… I noticed a dome on the roof of your house…. What is its purpose?”

"My friends, this man is very much alive, says Charles.
"We might need to carry him inside though, he's really cold. Let me check for injuries or broken limbs and try to find a blanket so we can use it as a stretcher.
We'll try to find out who this man is once he's safe and warm."

"And I'm positive that the flowers will survive."

John takes a look at the umbrella in his hand and then at the unconscience man in the flower patch.

"Henry, there is no need for a strecther... I could probably carry him inside of mrs. Bacon's house by myself. But it would be better if you or the Doc could help with the load.... One of us lifting the legs and the other under his armpits"

John bends down and gets ready for lifting by putting the unconscience man's hands up, so John can get a better grip around the man's chest, armpit area.
"Oh, and Doc... I don't agree with you about the flowers, they seem pretty squashed to me!" John laughs out

Jane Blake

Jane looks at Roseanne and says "my dear that´s a good idea, my little ones also needs food, but I´m sorry I do not have a telephone, they haven´t put wires out here yet".

"The dome on my roof" she says to Henry. "Its been there since I bought the house 24 years ago, my legs can't climb the ladder to the attic anymore. But when I was younger I liked to sit in the attic at night and look at the stars through the Glasdome".

"Oh he´s alive, that is nice" she says with a smile, but the smile quickly turns sour,as she looks at Henry. "Young man, I am not about to let a stranger into my house, let alone a MAN! And my name is mrs Blake, not Baker!

"Mrs... Blake... Baker or Bleach! How do you venture to think that we gentlemans could ever try to... annoy you with our sole presence?" He appears very irritated, while removes his jacket and hands it to Roseanne. "Please, Roseanne, take my jacket while I help John to carry the man inside Mrs. Chastity's house". Then he points at John "Ok, John... It takes two to tango!".
Henry rehearses his best smile while gives a hand to his friend, trying to lift the man's legs.

Quickly the old woman stepped inside the house and slammed the door, leaving Roseanne on the porch, looking slightly bewildered.

"Never in my life will that man -or any other man- enter this house" Everybody can hear the yelling coming from behind Janes frontdoor, momentarily drowning out the sounds of her "little ones".

Roseanne

Roseanne has finished filling the tub with warm water.  She checked the temperature with her wrist, like you would with a baby's bottle, to make sure it wouldn't be too hot.  She goes to the door between the bathroom and the hall, but keeps her eyes averted because, well, the men said they were taking the stranger's clothes off.  She knocks on the doorframe to get their attention.  "The warm bath is ready.  I'll just, erm,"  she looks around a bit, "I'll just go over there (points to a corner of the hall) while you two get him in the bath."
She walks over to the far corner of the hall and raises her voice to be heard.  "What was that you were saying about sand?  There's sand on his boots?"

His mind preoccupied with his (according to him) ingenuous transportation plan, Charles had already gone to the door.
Only to be reminded of the dreadful weather conditions by a gust of wind and rain.
Closing the door, his mood, already gone foul because of the vexation, didn't get better when he heard Henry's comment about "finding a doctor".

"And what am I, a nurse student? A shaman? Henry, your petty jokes amuse only yourself, this is serious, a man's life might be at stake."

Charles' attempt to sound solemn didn't go too well.
He followed the others to the bathroom.

After about 10 minutes, the stranger regains some colour, and the men dries him off, and puts him into one of John´s old pajamas.

Lifting the stranger up the stairs is hard work, but finally the men gets him into the first bedroom on the left. They put him on the bed, and tuck him in. The stranger looks peacefull and content, completely unaware of all the comotion he has stirred.

With a disturbing squeaking, the door took what seemed to be an eternity to the others to open, revealing an horrific vision. A gaunt figure emerged from the room with sounds that seemed to come from another world.
With scruffy hair coming out of his night cap, came Charles in his nightgown.

Charles

"Why on Earth are you making such a racket Henry!"

Roseanne Enters the dining room, and stands beside Charles, who look's like he want's to say something, just as a terrible, red-haired and big beast from hell jump's up from the hole in the floor, followed by a dreadful sound.

John tries to dodge the beast, but fails and the beast jump's in his face and scratch him.

Henry is paralysed to the floor and all he can do is screaming, and the scream just gets bigger when the beast decides to jump from John's shoulder to Henry's face and scratches him to.
With the hands in the air (like his is surrendering), Henry just stands there and screams, the beast decides to jump off Henry's face and run for the door where Charles and Roseanne is...

Even when the terrible, big and Hairy beast leaves the dining room, and heads for the stairs in the hall, Henry still Screams.

John, Roseanne and Charles yells in the same time at Henry. "CALM DOWN HENRY, TAKE IT EASY IT JUST A CAT; CALM DOWN NOW.".

"Let's go little further before we look in the cases..." John says while looking at on of them.

The number of cases seems to rise as they have walked about 28 yards in total. John's flashlight reveals another ladder that leads to another trapdoor. Also here there is a oil lamp hanging on the wall next to the ladder, but in better condition then the one under John's house.

Roseanne

(ooc:  I am confused.  I thought the gentlemen were on the ground floor in the dining room.  Roseanne is on the first floor outside Henry's room??)

Roseanne observes the figure.  Man or woman (or this being Coc, is it generally human in outline)?  What is it doing?

(ooc: If you go to the last post I made on page 8, you will see that we went up the stairs .)

John walks towards Roseanne and stands next her.

Charles

(ooc: so I guess we're all upstairs now?)

"Come on John, let me fix you before you go on a "seemingly catatonic stranger" hunt..."

Ignoring John's grimaces of pain, Charles cleaned his cuts and applied a plaster to his face.

Henry

After being subjected to the doctor's treatment, Henry catches up with Roseanne near his room's door and addresses her "Roseanne, the man has escaped, hasn't he? Have you found any trace or heard any sound? Where could he go? Outside? He will surely freeze... outside is still raining!".
He then realizes she is trying to silently peek through his door's room and lowers his voice.

(OOC I will try to fix every thing together on this last post.)

Keeper 2.30am

Roseanne hears a sound from Henry's room, on the way to the balcony.
She stops and peeps through the half-opened door, its hard to see anything in the dark room, but after a few minutes she see's a male figure with the back turned, standing at the window.

Charles walk's down the stairs with the doctor bag in his hand.
He enters the dining room, at the same time as Henry and John climb's up from the underground tunnel.

Charles
"Boys, I know you've been waiting your whole life to play underground explorators, but please get out of here, we have more urgent matters.
Our patient has escaped, the cat's on the loose, and I'd like to have a look at your faces.
We just can't let Roseanne deal with all this alone, can we?"

Henry
"Escaped? I'm not a medic like you, but... how is it possible? Wasn't the man in a coma? It's the quiet ones you need to watch... "

Henry and John walk's to the stairs in the hall, Charles with his doctor bag in his hand look's confused.

Charles
"Come on Henry , stop moving all round and let me clean your cuts." Henry stop's in the hall, and Charles quickly fix's his face.

Meanwhile upstairs 2.35am
Roseanne is very silent, and is still peeping through the door, the male figure is still with the bag turned looking out of the open window.

John "What's wrong Rosie?"
Roseanne makes a little jump, and turns towards Jonh with her finger to the mouth, telling him to shut up.
John walks towards Roseanne and stands next her.

The silent is killed with the sound of Steps on the stairs, up comes Henry followed by Charles.

Charles
"Come on John, let me fix you before you go on a "seemingly catatonic stranger" hunt..."
Henry "Roseanne, the man has escaped, hasn't he? Have you found any trace or heard any sound? Where could he go? Outside? He will surely freeze... outside is still raining!".

Ignoring John's grimaces of pain, Charles cleaned his cuts and applied a plaster to his face.

Roseanne now realize that her finger to the mouth, won't work anymore, and turns the face to the door, just as it's open's and the stranger stands before the 4 friends, with a confused look on his face.

Stranger
"Please tell me, who are you?, where am I? and and and who am I?

(OOC thank you Mi-Go, gherardo, Boulash and Dame Eldgeth for playing Chapter 1 the beginning in Amnesia).
